To Maintain a SanSee Shield, A Business Must:

1) Communicate all safety procedures clearly and in advance to their customers

2) Maintain a cleaning and maintenance schedule equal to or in excess of the latest CDC/WHO Requirements

3) Demonstrate a comprehensive plan to protect their employees and guests from illness

4) Undergo a complete hazard analysis of all potential points of risk for staff, equipment, and guests, and undertake all reasonable steps to minimize hazards.

The SanSee Shield is a certification awarded to tours and attractions which achieve the highest levels of safety and sanitation in the tourism industry. It means that your experience will be as clean, safe, and hygienic as it can be.

SanSee was formed by a group of tourism professionals who wanted to help the traveling public and our colleagues recover from the lockdown of 2020. We want to make travel safe, now and forever, and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, even as they evolve in the future.

How is a SanSee Shield Earned?

A SanSee Shield is distributed to businesses with a proven dedication to excellence in safety.

To qualify for a SanSee Shield, a tour or attraction goes through a rigorous screening and must meet minimum standards in the following categories:

Communication

From the moment you choose to visit, communication is the most important element of safety. You'll know what to expect in terms of safety procedures: what you should bring with you, what to leave behind, when to arrive, and what you'll find inside. The site will also have a plan to contact you if there's more information you will need to know.

Personal Protection

You may be required to remain 2 meters away from other guests, undergo a health screen, or wear certain safety equipment to enjoy your experience. As local guidelines and standards change post Covid-19, so will the requirements for a SanSee Shield.

Design

Your experience will use the best possible design methods to maintain a safe environment--from air filtration to choosing the right cleaning equipment, your protection and health are considered long before the doors open.

Training

Interacting safely not only with guests, but with fellow employees is critical for any SanSee Shield holder. This includes thorough training for each employee, as well as HR policies like paid sick time and health screening.

Cleaning

An effective cleaning and maintenance plan is the cornerstone of the SanSee Shield, both in the public areas and behind the scenes, every Shield holder pledges to maintain a scheduled cleaning program based on protection of guests and employees.
